ADD ADHD Treatment Programs
At the ADD / ADHD Treatment Centre, we offer a variety of ADD ADHD treatment programs. For example, our neurofeedback therapy can be highly effective for ADD / ADHD symptoms.
Imagine this scenario: Your child’s teacher is expressing concern about their behaviour and progress at school. As a result, you want to investigate further. Your child’s pediatrician diagnoses them with either ADHD (the hyperactive kind), ADD (the inattentive kind) or possibly a mix of both (known as mixed presentation.) Suddenly, things begin to make sense. Their misbehaviour is not a result of being naughty. In reality, it has a specific cause in the form of their neurological wiring.
Someone with ADHD may appear to be edgy or “wired.” In addition, they may seem “dreamy” or unfocused. As a result, the only things that seem to engage them or require no concentration are activities that interest them. For example, their favorite game or TV show.
As children with ADHD grow, compensatory behaviours to aid focus and functionality will come into play. For instance, always putting keys down in the same place. For some, it will look like they have “grown out” of their ADHD. However, their behaviours can often become an integral part of their life, even into adulthood. These behaviours may even stop them from being the best they can be. In these cases, visiting an ADHD clinic may help you or someone you know in the long term.
Signs and Symptoms of ADD/ADHD
An Attention Deficit Disorder can manifest in many different ways. As such, there’s no obvious way of finding out if someone has ADD and/or ADHD. Once commonality, however, is an association with inattentiveness and hyperactivity. For example, some behaviours that you may notice include:
- An inability to pay close attention to details. This may result in carelessness during work, school, and other activities. This can also manifest as difficulty when needing to organise.
- Being easily distracted by various things and a tendency to be forgetful. For instance, appearing to not listen when spoken to.
- Restless feelings and motions, such as fidgeting hands and feet. In addition, children may be seen running about or talking too much, as though they have a constantly running “motor.”
- Answering questions before they are completed, or interrupting others during activities.
If you feel as though you or your child show a number of these signs, it may be a good call to seek help. Please bear in mind that an individual having ADHD does not mean they were neglected, or that they’re selfish, lazy or disobedient.
The Direct Focus Solutions team can provide quality assistance and ADHD treatments for both children and adults. We equip individuals with the tools to mediate the effects of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder so that they can live a fulfilling life. We are partnered with the ADD/ADHD Treatment Center, who have been helping individuals and their families for over fifteen years.
What ADD ADHD treatment programs may help me?
ADD/ADHD may be addressed through a number of approaches, depending on which aspects you wish to focus on and the degree an individual’s functioning is impacted. Medical professionals may prescribe pharmacological interventions that help to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, psychologists can provide behavioural management, social skills training, and psychoeducation. A neuropsychological approach may also provide neurofeedback training as an adjunct therapy.
At the ADD / ADHD Treatment Centre, our client-focused approach allows us to create programs that are personally-tailored to your ADD/ADHD needs. We can provide a comprehensive diagnostic assessment and recommendations for what will best support you.
